Hot Wheels Treasure Hunt/T-Hunt Checklist(1995-2008)
A Treasure Hunt or T-Hunt is a series of twelve cars released every year by Mattel. The Hot Wheels Treasure Hunt series began in 1995 and was limited to only 10,000 of each car. In 1996 it was increased to 25,000 and later production runs have not been as limited. In 2005 there was a bonus 13th car in the series. The VW Bus which has been a very popular Hot Wheels car since its release in the 1996 First Edition series.
A Treasure Hunt can have a special paint job, unique designs, and rubber wheels. They can be identified by the card packaging which will have a green bar and can say Treasure Hunt or T-Hunt.
In 2007 there are two versions of these chase cars. The regular Treasure Hunt and the Super Treasure Hunt. The Super Treasure Hunt will have a paint variation and premium wheels as well as a much smaller production run. The easiest way to identify regular and Super Treasure Hunts is by the card. The regular versions name will be spelled as Treasure Hunts and the super version will be Trea$ure Hunt$ with two $.
1995 Treasure Hunts
The first series of 12 Hot Wheels Treasure Hunts by Mattel that were limited to 10,000 of each car. The T-Hunts are the Olds 442, Gold Passion, ‘67 Camaro, ‘57 T-Bird, VW Bug, ‘63 Split Window, Stutz Blackhawk, Rolls Royce Phantom II, Classic Caddy, Nomad, Classic Cobra, and ‘31 Doozie.
1996 Treasure Hunts
The second series of 12 Hot Wheels Treasure Hunts by Mattel that were limited to 25,000 of each car. The 1996 T-Hunts are the ’40’s Woodie, Auburn 852, Ferrari 250, Jaguar XJ220, ‘59 Caddy, Dodge Viper RT-10, ‘57 Chevy, Ferrari 355, ‘58 Corvette, Lamborghini Countach, Dodge Ram 1500, and ‘37 Bugatti.
1997 Treasure Hunts
The 1997 series of 12 Hot Wheels Treasure Hunts by Mattel. The T-Hunts are the ‘56 Flashsider, Silhouette II, Mercedes 500 SL, Street Cleaver, GM Lean Machine, Hot Rod Wagon, Olds Aurora, Dogfighter, Buick Wildcat, Blimp, Avus Quattro, and Rail Rodder.
1998 Treasure Hunts
The 1998 series of 12 Hot Wheels Treasure Hunts by Mattel. The T-Hunts are the Twang Thang, Scorchin’ Scooter, Kenworth LTL, 3-Window ‘34, Turbo Flame, Saltflat Racer, Street Beast, Road Rocket, Sol-Aire CX-4, ‘57 Chevy,Corvette Stingray III, and Way 2 Fast.
1999 Treasure Hunts
The 1999 series of 12 Hot Wheels Treasure Hunts by Mattel. The T-Hunts are the Mercedes 540K, T-Bird Stocker, ‘97 Corvette, Rigor Motor, Ferrari F512m, ‘59 Impala, Hot Wheels 500, Jaguar D Type, ‘32 Ford Delivery, Hot Seat, Mustang Mach 1, and Express Lane.
2000 Treasure Hunts
The 2000 series of 12 Hot Wheels Treasure Hunts by Mattel. The T-Hunts are the Double Vision, Tow Jam, ‘36 Cord, Sweet 16 II, Lakester, Go Kart, Chaparral 2, ‘57 T-Bird, Pikes Peak Celica, ‘67 Pontiac GTO, Ford GT-40, and ‘70 Chevelle.
2001 Treasure Hunts
The 2001 series of 12 Hot Wheels Treasure Hunts by Mattel. The T-Hunts are the ‘65 Corvette, Roll Cage, So Fine, Rodger Dodger, Blast Lane, Hammered Coupe, Vulture, 67 Dodge Charger, Olds 442, Pontiac Rageous, Deora, and Cabbin’ Fever.
2002 Treasure Hunts
The 2002 series of 12 Hot Wheels Treasure Hunts by Mattel. The T-Hunts are the La Troca, ‘71 Plymouth GTX, ‘57 Roadster, Lotus Project M250, Ford Thunderbolt, Panoz LMP Roadster S, Phaeton, Fat Fendered ‘40, ‘40 Ford Truck, Tail Dragger, Mini Cooper, and Anglia Panel.
2003 Treasure Hunts
The 2003 series of 12 Hot Wheels Treasure Hunts by Mattel. The T-Hunts are the Hooligan, ‘56 Ford Panel, Shoe Box, 1968 Cougar, ‘68 El Camino, Porsche 959, Midnight Otto, Riley & Scott MK III, 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham, Muscle Tone, Super Tsunami, and 1971 Plymouth GTX.
2004 Treasure Hunts
The 2004 series of 12 Hot Wheels Treasure Hunts by Mattel. The T-Hunts are the Pontiac Bonneville 1965, GT-03, Cadillac Cien, The Demon, Super Smooth, Splittin’ Image, Altered State, Morris Wagon, Whip Creamer II, Tantrum, Audacious, and Meyers Manx.
2005 Treasure Hunts
The 2005 series of 12 Hot Wheels Treasure Hunts by Mattel includes a bonus 13th Treasure Hunt, the VW Bus. The T-Hunts are the Purple Passion, 67 Camaro, 58 Corvette, 57 Chevy, 56 Flashsider, 3-Window ‘34, Mustang Mach I, 67 Pontiac GTO, Rodger Dodger, Mini Cooper, 70 Plymouth Barracuda, The Demon, and VW Drag Bus.
2006 Treasure Hunts
The 2006 series of 12 Hot Wheels Treasure Hunts by Mattel. The T-Hunts are the Asphalt Assault, ‘40 Ford Coupe, Sooo Fast, Custom ‘59 Cadillac, Volkswagen New Beetle Cup, ‘67 Mustang, 1969 Dodge Charger, Hummer H3T, CUL8R, C6 Corvette, Pit Cruiser, and Dairy Delivery.
2007 Treasure Hunts and Super Treasure Hunts
The 2007 series of 12 Hot Wheels Treasure Hunts by Mattel. The T-Hunts are the ‘69 Pontiac GTO, Nissan Skyline, ‘69 Camaro Z28, Corvette C6R, Mega Thrust, Hammer Sled, Brutalistic, Jaded, Enzo Ferrari, Custom ‘69 Chevy, Cadillac V-16, and Evil Twin.Super Treasure Hunts are rare versions of the originals. They come with special paint and rubber tires.
2008 Treasure Hunts and Super Treasure Hunts
The 2008 series of 12 Hot Wheels Treasure Hunts by Mattel. The T-Hunts are the Chrysler 300C HEMI, ’70 Plymouth Road Runner, Rockster, 2005 Ford Mustang GT, Hot Bird, Qombee, Dodge Challenger Funny Car, ’06 Dodge Viper, 16 Angels, ’64 Buick Riviera, Drift King,and the ’69 Chevy Camaro.Super T-Hunts are even more rare than the original treasure hunts. They can have rubber wheels, custom rims, and a unique paint job.
